You know I’m not great about blogging when I forget to post about one of my favorite sessions to date! So much for that New Year’s Resolution to blog more… Anyways, here are some images from November’s “Drench the Dress” bridal shoot! I first met Taylor and Brandon (our intrepid models) at their wedding consultation. They’re a real couple, and I’ll photographing their actual wedding day this June! At the consult, Taylor told me that she enjoys doing creative shoots and trying new things. Needless to say, I took her up on that!
Some of my favorite vendors of all time came together to make this shoot a reality. Kara Winslow provided the makeup. We wanted bold pinks and oranges to contrast with the blues & greens of the springs. Alisha Ase of the Wedding Cycle, graciously provided the skirt and bustier (and yes, I did warn her what I planned to do with it!). Ashley Rodriguez of Garden and Grace Florals custom-designed the flower crown and bouquet with the tropical colors of Old Florida in mind. Will, my husband, assisted as my safety swimmer.
We shot on a Friday morning at Kelly Springs in Apopka, FL, and were shocked at how many other people were there! Makes sense, when you see how gorgeous this place is. Anyways, in some shots, I had to edit out a huge yellow duck floatie! It really helped set the scene for romance. ;D
Apart from the chilly water and fairly aggressive current, we also made friends with a 4.5′ longnose gar. He loved the sound of my camera shutter and came over to investigate, but otherwise left us alone. Most of our Florida wildlife will leave you alone, if you give it the same respect.
Anyways, we had a ton of fun and here are a few of my favorite images. As you may have seen, one went viral and was viewed on Insider, MSN, and more! (Links here). We were also incredibly honored by Summerana Magazine when they allowed our image to grace their March cover. Thank you so much, and we hope you enjoyed the first of hopefully many “drench the dress” bridal sessions!
