Gainesville Makeup Artist
I wanted to write a bit about someone I work closely with – my main Gainesville makeup artist, Kara Winslow! Kara Winslow is a Gainesville institution, born and raised here. She has owned her business for over 8 years and the only thing brighter than her personality is her hot pink car! Kara is amazing at created polished looks that are customized to each client. From brides to boudoir to celebrities (even men) – Kara has done it all. She knows how to create camera-ready looks that won’t create flashback or look overdone.
My favorite thing about Kara is how dependable and consistent she is- I can book her months in advance and trust she will show up prepared. Something else I love about her is how she is always down to model different looks for me. If I text her, “I have an idea”, she says, “let me know when we’re doing it!”. As a creative, it’s so refreshing to work alongside someone as enthusiastic as her. From water shoots to actual gold to angel wings…we’ve collaborated on all of it. Like me, she’s also down to travel. I love that because it can be so hard to find someone in a new place (and trust me, you don’t want to risk your makeup with just anyone!).
Another opportunity where Kara and I had the chance to collaborate was for the 2019 first annual Rose Gala. This gala benefits the American Cancer Society and Hope Lodge, aiding women undergoing treatment for breast cancer. From start to finish, this gala was planned and executed in under four months! I believe over $50,000 was raised for the cause.
Kara’s services come included in my boudoir sessions and are available as add-ons for any other shoot. Brides, something to consider is that Kara stays through your ceremony to provide complimentary touchups. She’s also a pro at making flower girls feel extra special. Her work has been featured everywhere from MTV to CBS- she’ll get you camera ready too!
I know that she misses working with clients just as much as I do, and that she’s also determined to come back bigger and better than ever. Kara, I can’t wait for the day until you stroll into my studio with your pink drink and huge makeup kit and we can create magic again!
