Orlando Underwater Bridal Photoshoot at Kelly Rock Springs
When Rebecca and Bob sent me a message and said they were coming to Orlando for their honeymoon, and wanted to do an underwater bridal session with us I was ecstatic! Will wanted me to write this blog post about client experience and I wanted to focus on this incredible couple that came all the way from the Netherlands. So, here’s our compromise! <- Marriage pro tip right there.
Rebecca and Bob are newlyweds that call the Netherlands their home. After their European wedding, they decided to come tour Florida for their honeymoon. Rebecca discovered us from our other water bridal session that went viral and we started chatting over Instagram. For obvious geographic reasons, I couldn’t give Rebecca and Bob the same experience that most of my couples get; namely, a face-to-face meeting and design consultation. Instead, we scheduled a video call over Facebook Messenger. This way, we were no longer faceless strangers over the internet. I also stayed in close contact with Rebecca. I sent her our virtual gown catalog (she brought her wedding dress but we had some time, so why not add in an extra fancy dress?), we planned out the details of our shoot, she sent me color palette inspiration based off her wedding (from this Will designed a custom bouquet for her), and more.
I think planning ahead is so important. Not only does it build trust, but it also ensures that we don’t waste time. They took time out of their day at DISNEY for heaven’s sake, so I wanted to make sure that we were efficient! The couple that met us that morning at Kelly Rock Springs in Apopka weren’t strangers- just friends we hadn’t met face-to-face yet. I had already seen Rebecca’s modeling website and knew that Bob was a former champion swimmer. They knew I was a klutz and sure enough, I drowned one of my AD200 Pro strobes the day of their session. We jumped in their shoot (see what I did there?) and were able to capture a ton of different locations and looks within two hours.
In fact, I’m still working on extra images from this session because it was THAT good. All of us were prepared and ready; and that’s not to say we didn’t have fun! I loved hearing their impressions of America and Americans! From their shock at food portions to the very friendly Southerners they encountered, I think Florida left an impression! I hope you enjoy their images as much as we did creating them.
