FAQS/Additional Info

Where Should I Stay?

Our studio is located 10 minutes West of NW Gainesville, Florida. Gainesville has an array of excellent hotels, and Airbnb rentals. The closest accommodations to the studio is the Best Western Gateway Grand off NW 39th Avenue. There are also several nice hotels at the Newberry Road and Archer Road exits off I-75.

Do I Need To Be Able To Swim?

While all our training will be conducted in a pool you absolutely need to be able to swim. Due to the nature and inherent dangers of underwater photography you need to be able to confidently swim in the event of emergencies especially when working with clients.

What Should I Bring?

We recommend you bring the following: towels, trash bags, underwater masks, swimsuits, dry clothes, any necessary medications, SD memory cards, notepads and pens, any underwater gear you already have, and a super fun attitude!

What Airport Should I Fly Into?

Gainesville Regional Airport has direct flights from Atlanta, Miami, Charlotte, and Dallas. The airport is across town about 25 minutes from the studio. There are several major airports that are also an option. Jacksonville is 1.5 hours away, and Orlando and Tampa are both 2 hours away.

What Experience Is Required?

Having knowledge of basic portrait photography and the workings and setting of camera is important to being able to capture image in an underwater environment. You do not need any experience shoot underwater but you should be comfortable in-water enough to manipulate gear while underwater.

Where Is The Workshop Being Held?

The Water Workshop will be held at Water Bear Studios located at 330 NW 170th St. Newberry, Florida. The studio is 10 minutes West of I-75 on the West side of Gainesville, Florida.

Good morning! This week is ALL about workshop prep, but I made sure to film a video on my favorite color grading tools for workshop attendees. I start with the image out of camera, demonstrate global color tools to get it to a saleable point in Lightroom, and then show you how I finish it in Photoshop. After the workshop, I’ll list it for sale on my site along with some other tutorials I’ve been working on. If you have requests for videos you want to see, let me know! See MoreSee Less

Sew Trendy is our official gown sponsor for the workshop! I own a crazy amount of their dresses and have dragged them worldwide and underwater and their quality is bar-none. They’ll be providing gowns for one of the sets, swag, and one lucky attendee will take home a pretty hefty gift card! See MoreSee Less

Hi I am struggling with marketing my photography brand and trying to get people excited about underwater portraits. How do you guys get leads and convert to bookings? Are there any marketing strategies you have found work for you? At the moment I just have Instagram/Facebook and I’m looking at paid ads. I’ve also got my website but no leads from my website. Thanks so much! See MoreSee Less
